The First Day ...

Monday, January 5, 2009
This is how day number 1 of 2009 was spent for the Paul & Deb Speed Clan (brace yourself for a few pictures) ...

First up, breakfast with one of my oldest and best friends Jacque and her husband Mike.  We met up with them in Carlsbad where they were vacationing for the holiday.

Next on the list, seal watching in La Jolla (to Bella's disappointment, there were no giraffes, and zebras, and hippopotumuses - or hippopotomi?).

The kids were good enough to pose for Dad's new camera ....

... then it was off to the park ...

... for New Year's Day tree climbing ....

... and more posing for Dad ...

... and some posing for Jason too.

After La Jolla we continued our trek south to visit the Hotel Del Coronado (shout out to Some Like It Hot) ...

... where the children played in the sand (and ate some of it too) ...

... and Mom and Dad rung in the New Year properly.

I totally knew that was Jacque when I saw the picture. She's all grown up! That's really great that you guys keep in touch. I can't believe how warm your pictures look. *sigh*

Happy New Year!

Don't you love the fact that you can sink your toes in sand while others suffer in snow ;)
